In einigen europäischen Ländern werden Namenstage mehr gefeiert als Geburtstage. In anderen Ländern wie z.B. den USA sind Namenstage praktisch unbekannt. Namenstage sind eine Tradition bei der jedem Kalendertag Vornamen zugewiesen werden, meist auf der Basis von Namen von Heiligen.
